It also means winning fair shares, especially if productivity is improving. and it means protecting your income during sickness, when having children, and in retirement. A secure income means a reasonable basic rate not having to rely on overtime and bonus payments which change from week to week. Union also aims to make sure you get a proper grading system.

Better working conditions

AMWUZ has learnt that they can bargain over many other conditions of work. A workers quality of life is not defined buy just the amount of money he/she earns

Better living conditions

In Zimbabwe most mine workers still live in compounds or mine villages. This means that the union has to bargain for a wide range of community service. Working conditions and living conditions in most mines are directly determined by mine management and are therefore the concern of the union.
